As we navigated debris, washed-out and broken roads, waterbeds where the roadway used to be, and mounds of rubble to reach these communities, I saw firsthand the devastation — I walked through it and interacted with residents in:

·        Santa Cruz, Burnt Ground, and Thornton, St. Elizabeth

·        Montego Bay, St. James

·        While traveling through St. Catherine, St. Ann, and Trelawny, witnessing widespread destruction across multiple parishes

When we finally reached someone from Maroon Town nearly two weeks after the storm, their first request was not for food, clothing, or water. Their urgent plea was simple and practical:

"We need building materials—especially nails to get back a roof over the people's head."
